Short Agency is an independent insurance agency and has been a part of the local community for 50 years. Our purpose as an agency is to develop relationships that benefit the client as well as the community in which we live. Located in Archbold, we are excellently positioned to serve the Northwest Ohio area. Short Agency serves their clients through the use of the independent agency system. This means that instead of only being able to provide you insurance through one company, such as a captive insurance agent, we have access to several different companies that offer some of the most comprehensive insurance policies, at the best rates. Short Agency was started back in 1971 when Calvin Short and his son, Lonnie Short, founded the agency as a partnership in Archbold. The agency primarily sold real estate the first year in business, but then in 1972, Lonnie and Cal both became licensed insurance agents bringing insurance services into the fold. With Cal dealing primarily in real estate and Lonnie running the insurance business with the help of his sister, Peg Rufenacht, the agency flourished.
